SETU 2019 - Clear Water Revival

Sustainable Management of Our Water Resources

KASHIPUR (October 2nd): On the auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, a lively talk show or symposium was organized by #SETU, an initiative by the Social Service Group of Little Scholars, Kashipur. The event was held at The #Aveo on Ramnagar Road from 4.30 pm onwards. The key resource persons were Mr. #Saurabh #Popli (Leading Landscape Designer) and Mr. #Vasudevan R #Kadalayil (Practicing Architect & Green Building Specialist), both stalwarts in the field of clear water revival. They presented their digital papers and answered questions from the audience. Even the students of Little Scholars’ Social Service Group presented a PowerPoint talk followed by a proposal to restore and revive a local lake in Kashipur. The project is to revive the #DronaSagar lake. Many leading personalities of Kashipur were cordially invited on this occasion. Many invitees came up with solutions and even committed themselves to lending a helping hand in salvaging water resources in and around Kashipur. The evening concluded with a thought-provoking speech by Mr. Pankaj Bhalla, Manager of the hosting school.

Water Conservation Expert

With an experience of over 3 decades in the revival and rejuvenation of ecological systems, he has worked extensively in the Thar desert, North, Central, and Southern India. He has worked on the revival and restoration of over 9,500 water structures in the country and 3 river ecosystems in Rajasthan. His diverse portfolio covers reviving and conserving forests, strengthening communities with sustainable agricultural practices, and contributing to successful national and international architectural projects, with a bend toward long-term sustainable design and action. His work has benefited over a million people, and more than a thousand leaders have been nurtured in the process. He has been invited by the international community to work in various nations abroad, Morocco and France being among them. Conservation works in seven ecological regions of Morocco have been done over the past 5 years. Farhad adopts a systems approach that works from building on-ground models to influencing and changing policies at the state level.

About SETU 2019

SETU 2019 - Clear Water Revival: Sustainable Management of Our Water Resources

SETU, the social enterprise wing of Little Scholars, Kashipur, is an annual initiative that brings together students from schools across the region to explore, discuss, and act upon real-world issues linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The programme encourages students to think critically, collaborate meaningfully, and propose actionable solutions that reflect awareness, empathy, and innovation.

The Little Scholars Social Service Group has consistently strived to spread awareness on pressing issues. Over the years, SETU has explored diverse themes: Swachh Bharat (2015), Utopia (2016), Carbon Footprint (2017), Virtues (2018), Clearwater Revival (2019), Who Makes the City (2020), Streets for Me (2021), Sustainable Consumption & Production (2022), Sustainable Aqua (2023), and Climate Change & Biodiversity (2024). Each year, these efforts have been steps toward shaping informed and responsible citizens.
