On this occasion, Mr. Miteshwar Anand, STO Ramanagar, Members of the Clean and Green Club, Rotary Corbett Club Kashipur, Jury members, proficient Principals, Teachers, and students from all the participating schools were present. The school band paid tribute to the “Heroes of the Nation” with their lively and melodious performance. This was followed by an informative presentation by Mr. Ankur Chib, founder of Shun Co. Then, the SETU team showcased their journey of the event through the week by presenting a video that depicted the hard work that had been done in curating the event.

The event continued with a virtual interaction with Mr. Gunraag Popli, a young architect and thinker, who shared his opinion and his contribution towards Sustainable Consumption and Production, through his dedicated work for the Bhalsva Landfills. The participants were super excited to have a live interaction with Mr. Pankaj Sehowalia and Ms. Nidhi Nikhanj, after being under their guidance for a number of online sessions. They shared their experiences of working with the young innovators and applauded them for their amazing work. Later, a thought-provoking musical skit “Farq Padta Hai” was presented by the theatre group of Little Scholars, which was truly an eye-opener. The performance was highly appreciated by the audience.

About SETU 2022

SETU 2022 (Social Enterprise Towards Unified Understanding and Undertaking) An initiative by Little Scholars, Kashipur

SETU, the social enterprise wing of Little Scholars, Kashipur, is an annual initiative that brings together students from schools across the region to explore, discuss, and act upon real-world issues linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The programme encourages students to think critically, collaborate meaningfully, and propose actionable solutions that reflect awareness, empathy, and innovation.

The Little Scholars Social Service Group has consistently strived to spread awareness on pressing issues. Over the years, SETU has explored diverse themes: Swachh Bharat (2015), Utopia (2016), Carbon Footprint (2017), Virtues (2018), Clearwater Revival (2019), Who Makes the City (2020), Streets for Me (2021), and Sustainable Consumption & Production (2022). Each year, these efforts have been steps toward shaping informed and responsible citizens.

Theme of the Year: Sustainable Consumption and Production

This year's theme, based on SDG 12, invited young minds to reflect on one of the most defining challenges of our time: how to balance human needs with environmental responsibility. Through diverse activities and research-based exercises, students explored sustainable consumption patterns and production methods that can create a better future for all.

Grades 6-8 Category: Healthy In, Healthy Out

At the heart of this year's junior challenge was the concept of healthy consumption and sustainable living practices.

Participants in this category examined their daily consumption patterns and were tasked with creating awareness campaigns and models that promote healthy eating habits and sustainable food practices. Their work reflected an understanding that sustainability begins with personal health and conscious consumption choices.

Grades 9-12 Category: Claps for Scraps

Senior participants engaged through creative upcycling and sustainable fashion initiatives, transforming waste materials into valuable products.

Upcycling Innovation

Students created fashion statements from discarded materials, demonstrating how waste can be transformed into wearable art and reducing textile waste in the process.

Sustainable Design

This stream encouraged students to think creatively about material reuse, designing products that are both aesthetically pleasing and environmentally responsible.

Circular Fashion

Participants explored the concept of circular economy in fashion, creating designs that extend the lifecycle of materials and reduce environmental impact.

Workshops and Resource Sessions

To guide their research and development, participants attended online sessions led by eminent resource persons including Mr. Gunraag Popli, Mr. Pankaj Sehgal, Ms. Nidhi Nikhanj, Mr. Lokesh Ghai, and Mr. Ankur Chib. These workshops introduced new perspectives on sustainable consumption, upcycling, and responsible production, helping students connect theory to practice.

The Grand Finale (2nd October 2022)

The event culminated in a spectacular showcase at Little Scholars, Kashipur, where participants presented their innovative projects and models.

  • Students from grades 6-8 presented their "Healthy In, Healthy Out" projects promoting sustainable food practices.
  • Senior students showcased their upcycled fashion creations in the "Claps for Scraps" ramp walk.

Each project was evaluated on creativity, sustainability impact, and practical feasibility. Beyond competition, SETU served as a platform where innovation and environmental consciousness converged.

Each year, SETU reaffirms that meaningful change begins not with grand gestures, but with thoughtful actions — small steps that, together, shape a sustainable future.
